Let the games begin....

Welcome to our blog.  My name is Melanie and I've invited my family members to join me in digging out their old and dusty cookbooks or surfing the web to find some untried recipes.  The number of authors or contributors may change as my family member's interest waxes and wanes with this project.

Let  me introduce the current blog authors:  me!  I am tired of grilled cheese, Kraft Dinner, Hamburger Helper etc and would really like to find some new things to cook.  I would especially like to find some recipes that can be cooked and eaten in a short amount of time as I am usually rushed during the week.  During the weekend I do find it easier to cook a little more (but still trapped in the usual soups, stews and casseroles).

My Mom - She likes to try new recipes but also hates to cook like me.  Her biggest obstacle will be getting the food past my Dad.  Hee hee...sorry Dad but it's true.  :)

My Aunt - She loves to bake and although her husband prefers her "tried and true" recipes, she says that they were all new recipes once and is willing to try a couple of new ones!

My Uncle - We just came back from a most delicious meal on Boxing Day at his house and I'm not sure he needs to learn any new  recipes at all.  To be honest, I think he joined just to mock the rest of us....

My plan of action is to try to make a new recipe at least once every 2-3 weeks.  I plan to go through my cookbook cupboard which is jammed packed with unused and unopened cookbooks in hopes of purging its contents.  I am going to start with some recipes from "Barefoot Contessa - Back to Basics".  The first recipe will be "Parmesan and Thyme Crackers" - the first recipe in the book.  Stayed tuned in a day or two to find out how they turned out.

Okay, I guess I'll start looking for recipes.
